79 My guide has to go off for an appointment, and leaves me to myself. I prefer to return to the abbey, so as to be present at Vespers, because I want to hear once again, the Gregorian chant sung by the community. On making my way to the church, I see a poster indicating a shop that belongs to the abbey ‘L’Arca di Sant’Antimo’ (The Ark of Sant’Antimo). I go inside to have a look. The shop assistant, courteous and discreet, permits me to take my time, as I look at all the items on sale. On the walls and the shelves of the cosy little shop, books, pictures, sculptures, marmalade, CDs with Gregorian chant, photos and also hand manufactured articles from other monasteries and convents, are displayed. The books and CDs realised by the community of Sant’Antimo, are exhibited together with other products bearing the trademark “Edizioni Sant’Antimo.” I decide to buy a book and a CD with the chant sung by the brothers. As I leave the shop, I already foretaste the pleasure of sitting on the sofa at home, to listen to, and to enjoy again, the beautiful Gregorian melody that enlivens this place.
