It is a custom to furnish the main halls of the monastery with a name. The great Sienese saint was well acquainted with the community of Sant’Antimo, reason enough for a hall being dedicated to her. The saint had stayed at the abbey for a few weeks during the summer of 1377. Her presence and preaching drew a great number of people, who confessed themselves to the Dominican Friars who had accompanied the saint. She was a friend of the abbot of Sant’Antimo - fra Giovanni di Gano of Orvieto who assisted her at her death at Rome in 1380.
