The Abbey of Sant'Antimo hosts cultural activities, concerts, courses in Gregorian plainchant and manuscript illumination, and educational activities for individual visitors and groups. This section contains the schedule and programme of these events.

Concerts
Music, like all the arts, draws us to the beauty of God. The abbey hosts an annual concert programme of sacred and classical music performed by professional musicians and orchestras.

Concerts of Gregorian Plainchant
The abbey of Sant'Antimo safeguards the ancient tradition of Gregorian plainchant by hosting an annual concert programme of plainchant performed by renowned choirs. Sacred music, and plainchant in particular, have always played a key role in the liturgy of the Benedictine monks who have lived in the abbey over the centuries.

Gregorian Plainchant Courses
The abbey's plainchant courses offer visitors a different way of experiencing prayer and an opportunity to explore their own deeper selves.
The courses are held by masters of international renown in the abbey itself, with accommodation being provided in the monastery guesthouse at Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Lessons are available for individual participants or for groups, who can request exclusive courses if they so desire.

Scriptorium: miniature laboratories
Discover the techniques and the style of medieval illumination by following the precepts contained in the ancient manual known as De Arte Illuminandi and other medieval manuscripts. Participants produce their own illumination on parchment under expert guidance. Courses are held periodically in areas within the abbey and can be also be held for small groups by prior appointment.

Workshop on the techniques of medieval icons
Discover the painting techniques for the construction of medieval icons. An artistic history to know the ancient pigments used by the artists and the methods used for the realization of the wonderful gold funds, following recipes and pratical instructions contained in the ancient art treaties.
Courses will take place periodically inside dedicates areas within the Abbey and could also be organized for small groups by prior appointment.

Didactic laboratory of the monastic pharmacy
Discover the herbalist tradition of monastic pharmacies through the preparations of beauty products made following ancient recipes and using natural essences with beneficial properties for body care.
